The Department of English at CBIT was newly born in the month of October in 2018.  With this new identity and autonomy, we are surging forth to establish and strengthen ourselves in the academic arena.

The Department has 8 well qualified, experienced faculty consisting of 4 Doctorates, with the others pursuing their Ph.Ds. Their research areas vary from Indian, Commonwealth and American Literature to Linguistics, ELT and ICT. The faculty consistently strives for professional development by doing quality research, attending and conducting seminars, presenting and publishing papers.

Reasons Why The Department Stands Out

Language Labs were established in CBIT in 2000, when the concept of Language Labs was unknown in many other engineering colleges.

The faculty has published research papers in reputed national and international journals.

The English faculty receives excellent feedback from the students consistently every year.

The department introduced the soft skills course for all the UG and PG students when CBIT became autonomous. The specially designed syllabus enhances the employability skills of the students and prepares them for challenges ahead. 4 Soft Skills Labs have been established for this purpose.

A specially designed proficiency course is offered to weak students to improve their English Language skills.

Department Vision

The vision of the department is to  create, convey and apply knowledge and language skills to help in the holistic development of individuals, and improve the quality of life through its focus on teaching and learning, research and discovery, and outreach and collaboration.
